Effectively working with Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender and Questioning Youth

The primary goal of this workshop is to explore the high degree of risk of abuse faced by gay and lesbian adolescents. Due to a lack of information and visibility this group of adolescents faces physical, sexual and emotional abuse at home, school and in society at large. The discussion will include an overview of the stages of sexual identity development and identification of the physical and emotional stressors experienced by this population. There will be an exploration of the cultural and institutional dynamics that reinforce this abuse. National Children''s Alliance n.e.t. Education call.
